How to: Quirky shirts!

In case you have followed my blog for sometime, you must have come across ways I style different things in. I love it and that basically was why I started the blog in the first place.

Shirts are my favourite when it comes to these styling extravaganzas. I have already done some stories on styling a shirt. In case you missed, here you go MY TRYST WITH A BOYFRIEND SHIRT!ONE SHIRT FIVE WAYS; REVISITED!!.

But recently I came across a view that people felt that these styling experiments can only be done with basic, plain, and in other words, boring shirts. Today, we are proving that wrong.

For every time we’ve been looked down upon for being a girl, treated as weak for who we are, shown pity for  our existence, we’ve only come above stronger. No matter how fancy and elegant the previous years in history may look, the condition of women has been a sad topic.

I feel lucky to be born in this era, being aware of my rights and capabilities and not forgetting that there is still tons that has to be done for women, around the world.  I’ve been a firm believer in girl power and that only women can help women. I hate to see when girls get jealous of each other and nothing like a ‘sister code’ exists.  I do not want this to look like a rant but I would request all girls to support each other in their endeavours and they will see what a better place the world could be.

Fusion wear with Dimple.Amrin!

Fusion wear comes naturally to me.

Why you ask?

Well, growing up me and my brother could only buy two pairs of clothing a year and we always picked casual fun looking clothes and wore the same to every outing and party. I did feel out of place when I’d go to a wedding and all the other girls I knew  wore the most extravagant lehengas and shararas and I stood there like a fool in acid washed pants.

How to: Quirky Bags!

Good bags are a luxury!

It took me about 20 years to realise how important bags could be. I always though clothes and shoes matter, but accessories and bags? Not so much. What an idiot! Good bags and accessories can take any look from rags to riches and I understand now.

In the last year I have invested more in bags than anything else. From just two bags that I would carry around everyday, I now have types of bags. Yes ‘types’! From totes, to clutches, to bagpacks and all other names I am not even aware of.

Quirky bags have been the talk of the town for quite sometime now. Don’t we all just love them? Bags shaped as so many things, from a ball to an icecream cone, from lips to a huge eye! Everything’s possible. Sometimes they also come in rad prints that will suddenly make you famous in the next party you attend.

How To: Sympathise with Jumpsuits!

This might be the millionth time I am saying this but clothes have the power to make me feel how I want to feel. Now it may differ from people to people but there are a certain things in life that make us happier. For some it might be the weather, the sight of their partner, for me it definitely is clothes and shoes. (Oh and dogs too!).

As Sophie Kinsella rightly puts it, “I love to wear new clothes. If everyone  could just wear new clothes  everyday, I reckon depression wouldn’t exist anymore.”

Upcycling with Doodlage- Editorial, part 02.

Processed with VSCO with f2 presetProcessed with VSCO with f2 preset

How many times have you broken rules? Done things you shouldn’t have? Now, I am definitely not talking about crimes here. Don’t you drag me into jail with you! But things like, taking pictures in a ‘photography not allowed’ area or bunking a class or simple as eating sushi with your hands!

For the second part of my story with Doodlage, we broke a rule or two. I really wanted to shoot it at a brand new location. So we decided to go for the parking of a shady mall with shopping carts lying around (I had been there once, so I knew!) . I have always fancied the idea but never got to doing it. Even the idea of fooling around with the carts is so much fun, let alone actually using it.

Let’s begin today by understanding what upcycling means. No, it is not the same as recycling. Not until a few months ago, I thought they were synonymous too.

An example might help. So, if you recycle a bottle per say you would crush it and the plastic will be used for other purposes. (You can’t even do that at home!) However, upcycling the bottle would mean, maybe, painting the bottle and using it as a vase! Wasn’t this simple?

The question is, why am I giving all of this ‘gyaan’ here!Thats because we are upcycling with Doodlage today. If you haven’t heard of the brand yet, you’re definitely doing something wrong. It was about last year when Doodlage caught my attention for its stand-out patterns and comfortable designs. But little did I know that there is so much more to the brand than just designs and patterns!

STEAL FROM YOUR MAN!

“I have nothing to wear!”

Story of our lives.

With a wardrobe stuffed with clothes, I still find it hard sometimes to find what to wear and I know most of you go through the same thing. It has always been the same. As kids, me and my brother only received two pairs of clothes a year and we were never happy. But now, even when my wardrobe door is almost jammed, I still throw a fit at times on how I have nothing appropriate. Haha. I think that’s how it will always be. Not to forget that we still manage to dress fabulous even after all of this drama.

But, as crazy as we can get, we are never tired of new clothes. So today I am going to talk about how to get some more. Steal from your man. Now that man can be your father, brother, friend, boyfriend, husband or even the men’s section of a store!

I have always been a fan of androgynous clothing. I love how comfortable and fun it can be! Since times immemorial, I have shopped from stores meant for men. The t-shirts are my favourite. We never get such rad prints on t-shirts meant for the ladies, ugh. I mean, can’t a girl enjoy some witty graphics or pictures on her chest? Sure, we can!
